Description

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Appropriate PA teacher certification.
  2. AP and/or IB training or the willingness to obtain AP and/or IB certification
  3. BA required in appropriate major study. Masters preferred.
  4. Strong motivational, communicate, and organizational skills.
  5. Ability to work effectively with a team of adults.
  6. Willingness to participate in shared decision making, using styles of consensus, collaborate decision making.
  7. Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students and parents.
  8. Mastery of special styles of pedagogy (ex. cooperative learning, learning styles and multiple intelligences.
  9. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

SUPERVISES: Not applicable

 

JOB GOAL: To ensure that each student will think critically, communicate effectively, understand cultural heritage and diversity in all four domains of the Spanish language (listening, speaking, reading and writing)

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Organize and maintain all classroom and equipment in functioning order.
  2. Create a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning through organization.
  3. Teach and apply safety principles as part of all instruction.
  4. Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge in technology education.
  5. Incorporate equipment and apparatus and use technology where possible to supplement instruction.
  6. Maintain student records including all required paperwork.
  7. Communicate regularly with parents and be available for educational purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested.
  8. Demonstrate appropriate planning and the use of a variety of instruction techniques and strategies.
  9. Maintain and upgrade instructional content by using core content document and exit outcome as developed by the School District.
  10. Attend staff meetings, and department meetings.
  11. Exhibit life-long learning practices (Continuing Education/Staff Development participation).

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Supervise corridors, cafeteria, etc.
  2. Assist in emergency situations. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Board's request.

 

EVALUATION: Evaluation will be determined according to Teacher Contract Evaluation.

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

 

Physical Demands:

            Sitting for limited periods of time.

            100% physically active, standing and walking for extended periods of time.

            Kneeling, bending, crouching, stooping, and squatting.

            Ability to climb stairs.

                                               

Sensory Abilities:

            Normal/corrected vision.

            Visual acuity to read correspondence.

            Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.

            Normal/corrected hearing.

                                                                                   

Temperament:

            Ability to work as a member of a team.

            Must have a positive attitude, cooperative spirit, and sensitivity in relating to student, staff, parents, and community.

 

Mental Demands:

            Ability to interpret detailed written and verbal communications.

            Ability to perform basic math skills.

            Frequently fast-paced; high-pressure situation.

 

Environment:

            Normal classroom and student home environment.
