Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Must be able to pass certification requirements for all local, state and federal inspections including ServSafe.
  3. Ability to lift weight in the amount of normal size food cartons (50 lbs.).
  4. Knowledge of equipment, sanitation and record keeping procedures required.
  5. Valid PA Driver’s License required and must have the ability to report on time to various locations based on need.
  6. Basic computer knowledge is required.
  7. Regular attendance is required.
  8. Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

  * Supervisor may choose to waive some qualifications.

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Food Service, First Level Supervisor or Principal

 

SUPERVISES: Not applicable.

 

JOB GOAL: To heat and serve nutritious meals and maintain excellent sanitation.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Determine meal counts as collected by principal or designee in order to provide total number of meals required.
  2. Assist in the preparation and serving of meals.
  3. Act as cashier.
  4. Assist with food handling and storage of leftovers.
  5. Assist with the sanitation of work areas.
  6. Maintain or assist with record keeping as directed.
  7. Responsible for assigning work duties of the day to the satellite food services staff.
  8. Establish good rapport with students/staff.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Assist in verifying delivery invoices.
  2. Assist with operation of computer with knowledge of program.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Job calendar specific. Expected to report to work at the regularly scheduled start time during inclement weather delays.

 

EVALUATION: For new employees, evaluations will be performed according to the current collective bargaining agreement. For transferring employees, evaluations will be done at 30 days. All regular employees will be evaluated at least yearly.

Physical Demands:

            Pulling, pushing a cart.

            Reaching, turning, bending, and stooping.

            Lift and carry 50 lbs.

            Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people.

            Must be cooperative, congenial, and service oriented.

            Ability to work with limited supervision.

            Ability to be flexible.

            Ability to interpret detailed written and verbal communications.

            Ability to perform basic math skills.

 

Environment:

            Extreme temperatures, steam heat, pressure equipment, electrical, mechanical, gas fumes, chemicals:  germicidal,               grease cutters, bleach.
