QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s of Science Degree-Speech Pathology
- Completion of Certificate of Clinical Competence and Clinical Fellowship Year (preferred)
- Completion of National Examination in Speech Pathology & Audiology

SUPERVISES: Not applicable
JOB GOAL: The Speech & Language Pathologist is responsible for identifying and programming for children with speech and/or language deficits.
ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS:
- Responsibilities to the student:
- Knowledgeable of different speech/language disorders and methods for treatment
- Able to screen students to determine needs
- Diagnose the problem accurately (Articulation, Voice, Fluency, or Language)
- Plan appropriate therapy sessions
- Write conclusive Evaluations and Re-Evaluations
- Use a variety of assessments and materials appropriate for different age groups
- Responsibilities to the school:
- Develop weekly lesson plans
- Schedule students for treatment sessions as specified on their IEP
- Provide in-service training to staff and parents
- Case manage evaluations, Individual Education Programs (IEPs), ACCESS documents, and other necessary data within the mandated time lines.
- Maintain therapy logs and progress reports specific to the student
- Establish and maintain rapport with the staff and ancillary personnel specific to each student
- Responsibilities to the Parents/Guardians
- Provide Procedural Safeguard Notice and explain the process for placement or dismissal of services
- Conduct Multidisciplinary Evaluation (MDE) and IEP meetings to explain or review the findings
- Explain progress reports quarterly or as often as parent request the information at conferences
- Train parents for carry over of services
- Responsibilities to Coordinator and Principal
- Submit weekly lesson plans
- Maintain a weekly schedule of services
- Maintain a caseload list, making changes as they occur through a tracking system (IEP Plus, district reports and or Eschool information)
- Other duties as required by the Coordinator or Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Teacher contract year as established by the Board
EVALUATION: Evaluation will be determined according to the District's Professional Evaluation Plan – Observation/Supervision/Evaluation Plan.
